When treatment planning for an implant, the first visit is normally an evaluation where Dr. Katie Tigani will assess the quality and quantity of bone in the area - a CBCT 3D scan is often required to do this. If the area is adequate, implant placement would be the next step; however, bone augmentation or grafting is sometimes necessary before an implant can be placed.
Implant placement normally lasts one hour and you can even return to work afterwards if necessary! Local anesthetic and pain medication will be provided, but most patients feel little to no pain in the healing process. The bone takes 4-6 months on average to integrate with the implant before a tooth can be placed on top.
